Ich habe nicht gezögert, dieses Buch zu kaufen, weil es so teuer war und weil es keine Bilder vom Inneren des Buches gab. Ich bin einfach ein Fan der Serie und ich bereue es nicht, dieses Buch bestellt zu haben.
Es ist sehr umfangreich, mit vielen detaillierten, vollfarbigen Bildern. Es befasst sich mit jeder Figur, sowie mit verschiedenen Ereignissen und anderen Elementen. Von Entwürfen, über Materialien und Schnitten, sowie der Entwicklung der Garderobe in der Handlung wird alles abgedeckt.
Natürlich ist es bei so vielen Charakteren/Kostümen unmöglich, alles unterzubringen, aber die Autoren leisten gute Arbeit, wenn es darum geht, wie die Kostüme verwendet wurden, um Charaktere/Settings/Handlungen zu etablieren.
Es enthält eine Menge toller Farbfotos von Kleidung und Accessoires aus der Serie – nicht nur Fotos der Darsteller, sondern auch Design-Skizzen und Fotos derer, die einige der Looks beeinflusst haben. Viele Beschreibungen und Informationen über die Mode.
Das Buch deckt jede Staffel der Fernsehserie und beide Filme ab. Es ist ein Muss für Downton-Fans, für Leute, die sich für historische Kostüme interessieren, für Leute, die sich für Mode interessieren (vor allem die 1920er Jahre).
